Section 608 Technician Certification (Type I)

Description

Section 608 Technician Certification (Type I) is a requirement under EPA regulations 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F, under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act. This regulation requires that technicians who maintain, service, repair, or dispose of equipment that could release ODS refrigerants into the atmosphere must be certified. Technicians that service small appliances should be certified as a Type I Technician. Technicians are required to pass an EPA-approved exam to earn Section 608 Technician Certification. Exams must be administered by an EPA-approved certifying organization. There are no eligibility requirements to sit for the exam, but training is available through EPA-approved certifying organizations.
